Flicker is a 2014 short film written and directed by Gamerwalk, and based off the short story "The Tell Tale Heart". The short follows a man named Thomas Livingston as he tells a detective how he murdered his next door neighbor. The short was released on January 25, 2014, to mainly positive reviews.
Thomas Livingston, a young businessman murders his next door neighbor. Days later he is interrogated by Gavin Riley, a detective for the local police department. But the more Thomas begins to reveal about the murder the more we see his sanity begin to flicker.
After Gamerwalk decided to post-pone his debut film Conmen, he came up with the idea of making a short instead. Upon searching for his inspiration, he turned to an old favorite short story of his "The Tell Tale Heart". He then quickly wrote the outline, then jumped into script-writing. Eventually he took a short break from the production, but got right back to it later.
Reception has been mostly positive, with critics praising the visuals, but saw that the film lacked substance in characters and plot development.
|Although the short suffers from the shallowness of it's themes and underdeveloped drama, the visuals are striking and manage to impress, making 'Flicker' a nice contribution from Walker Pictures. 6/10.||Zilex1000|
|10/10. That was the best Roblox Short I have ever seen. The cinematography was perfect, your actors made no mistakes at all, and I actually was involved in what was happening. This is definitely worth a Blox Award Nomination.||CosimoValuta|
|After I watched it, I felt it deserved a 7/10, but upon reviewing, my score dropped. Two officers shot a suicidal guy without any evidence he had done anything wrong, and the repeated appearance of Dawson was unneeded honestly, because we were spoonfed the meaning of it in the end. 5/10.||ThecapcomFreak|
|I liked this short. It was well-shot, had a lot of interesting dialogue and characters, and I could tell where you drew inspiration from "The Tell Tale Heart." I agree with what Don said, this could definately be nominated and even win an award. 9.5/10.||Olliekins|
